Lila & Frida ...

I came across this little snipppet recently. Lila Downs is a great Mexican singer that has that husky vintage tejana sound that I love. This song is Alcoba Azul. It's paired with some original Frida Kahlo art & photos of her and Diego Rivera, both two of my favorite Mexican artists. Some of the other photos are from the movie "Frida" starring Salma Hayek.

Hope you enjoy this little MezoAmerican moment!

I love this picture!

I found a new artist on Etsy today. Her name is Kelly Rae Roberts. I especially would love to have a print of these three girls. But, sigh ... she's sold out of this one.

But check out her shop, maybe you'll get lucky and find something to hang in your home.

10 Minute Bracelet ...

Grab a handful of your favorite button colors, use any stretchy string or plastic. Start the thread going in through the back and out the front and repeat about 25 times, tie a couple of knots and "whala" you have a new nifty bracelet in about 10 minutes.

These were some vintage colors that I picked up at a Thrift Store ... Hope you enjoy making & wearing your new one of a kind creation!

In The Register Editorials Today ...

At first I laughed at the ignorance of these comments. Then after that, I was saddened. Jorden probably represents the sentiments of most residents of Orange County.

Too bad Jorden hasn't had an Illegal Mexican Immigrant for a friend. He probably wouldn't feel this way if he'd ever had the joy of building a home for a Mexican family in one of the shanty towns of El Nino or San Bernardo just outside of Tijuana. I have. And I'm forever changed by the experience. If you'd ever seen how life is for less fortunate people you wouldn't be so ignorant. Maybe Jorden would like to come on the next Project Mexico trip in May 2008? Probably a long shot ... but then again if Jorden has his way and all the "Illegals" are gone he'll be cleaning his own toilet and paying $10 for a burrito.

Oh, and about the currently declining property values, I'm very sure "the illegals" had nothing to do with that. I think you can pin that one on "the legals" ... the greedy ones.
